If you’re living with epilepsy, you know it can be challenging to manage your symptoms and prevent seizures. At Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, we understand your challenges and we’re here to help.

Latest epilepsy treatments
At Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, our neurologists and their teams have years of experience in diagnosing and treating people with epilepsy. Beginning with diagnosis, we use technology such as an electroencephalogram (EEG), an important diagnostic tool for epilepsy. It enables our physicians to record and analyze your brain waves and electrical activity in your brain.
For most people (70-80 percent), seizures are well managed with medication. However, for those who do not respond to medications, we offer treatment options such as vagal nerve stimulation (VNS) including Aspire VNS™ technology. The Aspire, a small implantable device, can predict and prevent seizures. Neurosurgeons at St. Joseph Medical Center were the first in Washington state to implant this newly approved device.
Although there’s no cure for epilepsy, we’re here to help you manage your condition and maintain your best possible quality of life. We offer you access to neurological experts who provide the latest treatment options available.
