Cancer Screening: Bill Garl

Bill GarlDiagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2012 Treatment team: Franciscan Cancer Center, Northwest Medical Specialties, Tacoma Valley Radiation Oncology

“During a routine exam my doctor recommended I get a colonoscopy and endoscopy. So I scheduled those tests. The colonoscopy came back normal, but the endoscopy showed a mass in my esophagus that turned out to be cancerous. I had radiation and chemotherapy followed by surgery. I encourage all of my friends to visit their doctor. I felt like a million bucks before the diagnosis and never would’ve known I had cancer if I hadn’t been screened. The cancer is now gone.”
