CHI Franciscan Antimicrobial Stewardship Program
The purpose of Antimicrobial Stewardship is to promote the appropriate use of antibiotics throughout our health system and optimize patient outcomes while decreasing the development of resistance and antibiotic-related adverse events. At the core of our Antimicrobial Stewardship Program is an active multi-disciplinary committee composed of representation from our Infectious Disease physician groups, hospitalist physician group, microbiology, infection prevention, pharmacy, nursing education, and clinical data analysis departments. The tasks of our committee are to gather and analyze data, provide education, advise on formulary changes, and incorporate national guidelines into clinical practice.
