Harrison Medical Center Earns State Award for Outstanding Care
Washington State Hospital Associate recognizes Harrison for patient safety
Bremerton, Washington - Patient safety is one of the top priorities for the providers, nurses and staff at Harrison Medical Center and now Harrison is recognized as one of the top hospitals in the state for excellence in patient care. The Washington State Hospital Association recognized Harrison, a part of CHI Franciscan Health, with a 2016 Achieving Best Care Award for achieving the highest scores in reducing patient harm.
“The safety of our patients is paramount to providing high quality medical care and ensuring our patients get back to their daily lives as quickly as possible,” said David Schultz, market president of the Peninsula region for CHI Franciscan. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our providers, nurses and staff in making patient safety our top priority.”
The Achieving Best Award recognizes sustained improvements in five categories: infection, falls, early elective deliveries, sepsis (a complication of the body’s overwhelming and life-threatening response to infection) and pressure ulcers.
Hospitals named top performing were defined as those that achieved the highest scores in reducing patient harm in key areas. Scoring was based on the size of the hospital, and whether the hospital was in the top 25 percent in comparison to others in their size category.
