A.W.A.K.E. Support Group

A great resource for CPAP users!

The "Alert Wakefulness and Keeping Energetic" (A.W.A.K.E.) support group is a meeting place for Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (NCPAP or CPAP) wearers and their families. NCPAP is a piece of equipment consisting of a mask and blower unit, which prevent snoring and obstructive sleep apnea by blowing air into the sleeper's nose. The A.W.A.K.E.group discusses various topics related to obstructive sleep apnea and may hear presentations from sales representatives on new products. Light snacks are provided. Partners in healing. A free 12-week health and wellness program for cancer patients that focuses on the whole person. The program meets twice a week for 90 minutes and helps people ease their way back into fitness.

Cancer: Look Good...Feel Better

A unique program sponsored by the American Cancer Society where volunteer beauty professionals lead small groups through practical, hands-on experience. Women learn about makeup techniques, skincare, nail care, and options related to hair loss such as wigs, turbans, and scarves. Each group program participant receives a free kit of cosmetics for use during and after the workshop. Patient must register ahead of time.

Cancer: Road to Recovery

This American Cancer Society program provides transportation to and from treatment for people who have cancer and do not have a ride, or are unable to drive themselves. Volunteer drivers donate their time and the use of their cars so that patients can receive the life-saving treatments they need.

Diabetes Support Groups

The Franciscan Diabetes Support Group is designed for people with diabetes and their family members. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences and feelings, and in return learn and find encouragement and support from others coping with similar issues. Half of the meeting is dedicated to presentation on specific topics identified by the group, like meal planning, blood sugar self-testing and exercise. The other half is dedicated to open discussion and sharing.

Surgical Weight Loss Support Groups

Choosing to have bariatric surgery may be among the most important health decisions you'll make in your lifetime. Getting to know other people who share experiences similar to yours can contribute a great deal to your long-term success. Whether you're contemplating surgical weight loss or have already had surgery, we have a support group to meet your needs. We welcome patients of any surgeon or hospital. Participants share experiences and answer each others' questions in a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere. Health professionals, including behaviorists, dietitians, physicians and physical therapists, attend these meetings on a rotating basis to offer guidance and up-to-date information.
