St. Joseph Medical Center is Open to Serve You Today and Every Day

As our nurses, doctors and staff at St. Joseph Medical Center go about caring for patients, we’re also negotiating a labor contract with the Service Employees International Union.

The union has announced it will stage informational picketing on public property outside our facilities beginning at 11 a.m. today. During this activity, the hospital will be open and providing high quality patient care, as usual.

We regret any inconvenience that the union’s activity may cause. It was our goal to keep the bargaining process at the negotiating table.

Informational picketing is not a strike. It is a common union tactic to draw public and news media attention to the union’s labor dispute. The activity will include groups of union supporters walking the public sidewalks in front of the St. Joseph campus, carrying signs or union placards. Sometimes picketers also use drums, bull horns and other noise-makers. Picketers cannot block driveways or other entryways to our hospitals nor can they be on the hospital’s private property.

We are committed to providing all our employees with a quality work environment, with competitive wages and benefits, whether they are union members or not.

Thank you for allowing St. Joseph Medical Center to serve you and your loved ones. You can be assured that quality patient care remains our No. 1 priority today and every day.
