Two Franciscan Facilities Earn Breast Imaging Center Of Excellence Status
The Women's Health & Breast Center at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way and the Carol Milgard Breast Center in Tacoma have been designated as Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The ACR designation indicates that both programs have achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, equipment and technology, as well as quality control procedures and protocols. The professional association conducted peer-review evaluations by board-certified physicians.
"This recognition of our program as a Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiologists is a testament to our commitment to providing high quality care, ensuring patient safety, and satisfying our patients," said Cynthia Kannenberg, manager of the Women's Health & Breast Center at St. Francis.
Established in 1997, the Women's Health & Breast Center is accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy). The facility has earned numerous citations for quality and excellence, including status as a Certified Quality Breast Center in 2009.
The Carol Milgard Breast Center, which is co-owned by Franciscan and MultiCare health systems, and operated by TRA Medical Imaging, opened in 2009. The state-of-the-art facility offers a full suite of screening and diagnostic services such as digital mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and stereotactic breast biopsy.
