Local Clergy and Hospital Staff Offer Messages of Hope for New Chapel

Lakewood - Thirteen Franciscan Sisters, Lakewood religious leaders and staff of St. Clare Hospital joined together to inscribe messages of hope on the unfinished interior walls of the new chapel at St. Clare on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. The event, “Within These Walls: A Celebration of Prayer and Hope” allows members of the Lakewood community to come together and leave words of inspiration to comfort those who seek solace in solemnity of the chapel.

“St. Clare Hospital is a community hospital,” said Kathy Bressler, President of St. Clare Hospital. “Our chapel is a place of healing for our patients, their families and our staff regardless of their faith. We want the community to feel that they are always welcome to use our chapel and feel that St. Clare is their hospital.”

The renovation of the St. Clare chapel will expand the chapel’s space by an additional 400 square feet and will unify the chapel with the courtyard. There will be seating for 18 people in the new space. Additional features include a textured ash ceiling, a full height glass wall that spans the length of the east wall and a new garden that will change with the seasons.
