Franciscan Receives Grant From Employees Community Fund Of Boeing
The Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound has awarded a $30,172 grant to Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care. The grant will pay for two Verathon bladder scanners that will benefit hospice patients.
The new scanners will prevent unnecessary catheterizations, decreasing hospice patients’ discomfort and medical complications, and saving time and money. Bladder scans can also detect bladder obstructions, enabling improved clinical care planning for optimal treatment and quality of life.
"We are truly grateful for the generous support the Employees Community Fund has provided to Franciscan Hospice over the years," said Franciscan Senior Vice President for Mission Dianna Kielian, who is serving as interim president of the Franciscan Foundation. "This gift from Boeing employees will directly benefit hundreds of the terminally ill patients and their families that we serve."
Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care helps individuals with advanced illness live each day with comfort and meaning. An experienced team works closely with patients, their families, and their physicians to identify and meet physiological, psychological, spiritual and practical needs with compassion and respect. Treatment focuses on effective pain management, symptom control, and the quality of remaining life.
As the largest provider of comprehensive end-of-life care in Washington, Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care served nearly 3,400 patients last year. This included 2,735 patients that were cared for in their homes and 644 patients who were admitted to Franciscan Hospice House in University Place.
The Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound (ECF) is an employee-owned and managed-giving program. ECF funding enables agencies to purchase equipment, renovate their facilities and create new programs that directly help their clients and strengthen our communities. Since 1995, the Employees Community Fund has funded $183,510 in direct grants to the Franciscan Foundation to benefit Franciscan Health System programs.
