Franciscan COO Named Senior Vice President and CEO of Nebraska Network

Cliff Robertson, MD, Chief Operating Officer of Franciscan Health System has accepted the position of Senior Vice President and Market Chief Executive Officer for the Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) Nebraska Network.

The Nebraska Network is the largest not-for-profit, faith-based health care provider in Nebraska and southwest Iowa with 11 acute care hospitals, a specialty spine hospital, freestanding inpatient psychiatric and skilled nursing facilities and more than 100 clinics. It has 2,531 licensed beds, including an academic medical center that serves as the primary teaching partner for Creighton University, a large physician clinic network and more than 16,000 employees.

Cliff Robertson joined Franciscan in 1995 and in 1999 became the Chief Medical Officer and President of Franciscan Medical Group. In 2009, he was promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer for Franciscan Health System providing leadership for Franciscan’s network of hospitals in King and Pierce Counties. He also supervised its telehealth services, customer service excellence program and its Operational Excellence department that improves processes and efficiencies through deployment of LEAN expertise. He recently spearheaded the development of Franciscan’s innovative new virtual urgent care program that offers medical consultations with physicians over the phone or online for $35.

“Cliff has been a tremendous asset to Franciscan since joining our organization in 1995,” said Joseph Wilczek, Chief Executive Officer of Franciscan. “His appointment to lead the Nebraska system is a testament to his accomplishments and service at Franciscan.”

Dr. Robertson has been serving as the interim CEO of St. Luke’s Health System in Houston, Texas since October. Franciscan, St. Luke’s and the Nebraska Network are all affiliates of CHI. Cliff Robertson’s new role becomes effective February, 2014.
