Rhododendron Work Party
We are a historic garden on 10 acres in Lakewood, and we have a collection of 900 rhododendrons. In early June mass "deadheading" needs to be done (snapping off the dead flowers after spring) to maintain the health of the plants for the next season.
Date/Time: Saturday, June 6th from 8:30 a.m. - noon
Location: Lakewold Gardens
12317 Gravelly Lake Drive S.W.
Lakewood, WA 98499
Number of volunteers needed: Any number of volunteers is fine! Individuals, groups and families are welcome.
How volunteers will be used: We will start by offering the group that gathers a complimentary breakfast in our historic Wagner mansion, and then we will grab some buckets and get to work! There is no cost for this event or to enjoy the gardens on this day.
To volunteer: Katrina Redding, Volunteer Manager, 253-584-4106 ext. 106 or email@example.com. Last date to sign up is Friday, June 5, 2015.
Champions Mentor Program
Working in partnership with the Clover Park School District, CISL coordinates the Champions Mentoring Program, at three elementary, three middle schools and one high school. CISL screens, trains, supports and evaluates adult and high school mentors using Best Practices resources. Mentors meet with their students at the school for one hour, once a week. They are trained to help students set and reach academic and personal goals.
Date/Time: Flexible depending on mentor’s schedule, but is Monday – Friday during school hours.
To volunteer: Please contact Leah Livingston, Champions Mentor Program Coordinator at 253-589-7489 (office), 253-677-5642 (cell) or firstname.lastname@example.org.
