St. Anthony Medical Building is new name of landmark Gig Harbor facility

4700 Pt. Fosdick Building is renamed to reflect Franciscan’s presence, commitment to service

The premier medical office building in Gig Harbor will be renamed the St. Anthony Medical Building on Pt. Fosdick on Monday, Oct. 2 to reflect the expansion of Franciscan Health System programs in the landmark facility.

Until now, it has been known simply as the 4700 Pt. Fosdick Medical Building.

Exterior signage that identifies the facility as the St. Anthony Medical Building on Pt. Fosdick is scheduled to be in place by Thursday, Oct. 5.

St. Anthony Prompt Care, a state-of-the-art Franciscan urgent care clinic, will open there Oct. 23 to provide timely, convenient treatment of minor illnesses and injuries every day of the week. Also, Franciscan will begin X-ray and laboratory services at the location on that date.

Other Franciscan services already in the building are the St. Anthony Sleep Disorders Center; St. Joseph Dialysis-Gig Harbor; and these Franciscan Medical Group practices: Harbor Orthopedics with orthopedic specialists Robert Yancey, MD and Mark Friedman, MD; the ROAD (Rheumatology Osteoporosis and Arthritic Diseases) Clinic with rheumatologists Richard Rynes, MD and Gurjit Kaeley, MD; and St. Anthony Specialty Care, featuring the services of neurosurgeon Fabio Roberti, MD, dermatologist Keith Vaughn, MD, and several community-based physicians.

St. Anthony Prompt Care, the new urgent care clinic, is part of the Franciscan Medical Group, a service of Franciscan Health System. It will be open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

“Our new clinic will provide quick treatment for minor injuries and illnesses by highly qualified physicians and providers, without an appointment,” says Cliff Robertson, MD, chief medical officer for the Franciscan Medical Group. “St. Anthony Prompt Care represents a new choice for urgent and after-hours care in the Gig Harbor community.”

Conditions treated by the skilled staff at St. Anthony Prompt Care will include cuts, bumps, bruises, colds and flu, stomach pains, migraines, infections, sprains, strains, rashes and other minor conditions.
Meanwhile, Franciscan Health System is preparing to begin construction of St. Anthony Hospital and an adjacent medical office building in Gig Harbor North in early 2007. The new 80-bed hospital, whose many life-saving services will include 24/7 emergency care, is planned to open in early 2009.

Franciscan Health System is a private, non-profit organization that includes St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood, St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way; Franciscan Medical Group (a network of primary-care and specialty-care clinics and physicians); and Franciscan Hospice House. Franciscan is affiliated with Catholic Health Initiatives, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit healthcare systems. Franciscan website: www.FHShealth.org.
