Breastfeeding (Lactation) Support

NursingAs a new parent, you want the very best for your baby. For most mothers, the choice to breastfeed or bottle feed is very personal and can be influenced by a number of factors. No matter your choice, the consultants at Franciscan are here to ensure your baby is getting the right nutrition.

Research shows that breast milk is the “best first food”, costs nothing, aids in birth recovery, and nourishes babies and helps them avoid various illnesses and medical problems. Many mothers don’t realize that breastfeeding is a learned skill and doesn’t always come naturally. We’re here to help with compassionate breastfeeding support! The team of registered nurses and educators at Franciscan Lactation Services are certified as International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants and provide in- and outpatient services to new families.

Our breastfeeding support services include:

  • inpatient lactation consultations
  • outpatient consultations
  • breast pump rental/purchase
  • partnerships with Mary Bridge Women, Infants & Children (WIC), Lakewood WIC, Parkland WIC, Federal Way WIC and Highline WIC.
