Supervisory Staff

GarrettGarrett Starmer, M. Div., PsyD., BCC is the Manager of CHI Franciscan Health’s Clinical Pastoral Education. He is an Association for Clinical Pastoral Education-certified supervisor, Association for Professional Chaplains board-certified chaplain and Presbyterian Church (USA) minister. He is married and has two adult sons, one adult bonus son, two adult bonus daughters and their husbands and four adorable grandchildren.

Patricia McElroyThe Reverend Patricia McElroy is an ACPE supervisor and an ordained Presbyterian (USA) minister. She received her Masters of Divinity from Yale University Divinity School, summa cum laude, in 2004. Prior to entering Yale, Patricia practiced law in Philadelphia for many years. She completed her supervisory training at the HealthCare Chaplaincy in New York City where she served several hospitals, including North Shore University Hospital and St. Luke’s–Roosevelt Hospital. Prior to her arrival at CHI Franciscan Health in Tacoma, Patricia was supervising at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill. She lives in Gig Harbor with her dog, Birdy, who (according to Patricia) is the sweetest dog … ever.

Timothy ShipeTimothy Shipe, MDiv., is an ACPE Supervisor and Ordained Disciples of Christ minister. He is married and the proud father of two young daughters and husband to Mia. He coordinates the chaplain interns and residents placed at CHI Franciscan Health’s Hospice House as well as supervising intern groups at the Hospice House. 

Rebecca CedergreenRebecca Cedergreen, Supervisory Education Student (SES), has her Masters in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. Rebecca did her CPE Internship at The Veterans Administration Puget Sound and continued her Residency at St. Joseph-Medical Center in Tacoma. Rebecca comes to the CPE SES Program after serving 20 years in the nonprofit sector in education, development, marketing and executive leadership. Most recently, her work has been in Los Angeles, California, and Seattle, Washington, working with homeless, street-involved youth and women cancer survivors. Rebecca belongs to the Seattle Presbyterian Church USA. She and her family live in West Seattle with their dog, Tashi.
