Bremerton RDs

Heather Denis, RD, CD, CDE, CPT

Heather DenisDiabetes is Heather’s passion. She believes that everyone can live a long, healthy life with diabetes until there’s a cure. As a certified diabetes educator (CDE), she works with all diagnoses of diabetes and manages all aspects of care, from nutrition and medication management to insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. Heather is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for Service in Diabetes. In her spare time, she loves to kayak, travel and enjoy time with her family.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, David Lipscomb University; dietetic internship, University of North Carolina
  • Clinical interests: Nutrition education, diabetes, endocrinology and primary care

Kristen Fahnoe, RD, CDE

Kristen FahnoeKristen finds that helping patients succeed is the best part of her job and has specialized in diabetes education since 2003. Kristen enjoys promoting health through a whole-food, plant-based diet. In her spare time, Kristen enjoys cooking and traveling.

Lynn Lanza, MS, RD, CD

Lynn LanzaLynn is passionate about inspiring others to lead a healthy lifestyle through balanced, mindful eating and enjoyable physical activity. She’s worked in a variety of nutrition health settings, including a university health center; an oncology outpatient clinic; a community health center for women, infants and children; and a diabetes outpatient clinic. Lynn enjoys cooking and exploring the Pacific Northwest by foot, bike and kayak with her husband and friends along with teaching a weekly weight-lifting fitness class.

  • Education: Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in food, nutrition and dietetics with an emphasis in community nutrition, Southern Illinois University Carbondale; certification in adult weight management

K. Shanti Malkoc, MS, RD, CD, CDE

K. Shanti Malkoc“Food is medicine” is the principle that guides Shanti’s philosophy. She enjoys teaching patients about healthy eating and helping them set realistic goals to improve their well-being. In her spare time, she enjoys digging in the dirt to grow vegetables, cooking for friends and family and traveling to widen her horizons.

Carie Boone, MS, RD, CD

Carie Boone 100Carie provides compassionate, evidence-based nutrition education to help people live healthier. Carie enjoys regular exercise, being outdoors rain or shine, time with family and friends and cooking with delicious, healthy food.

Cailie Buckingham, RD, CD

Cailie Buckingham, RD, CDCailie helps others make good nutrition a lifelong habit. She provides her patients with accurate, practical and fun tips for healthy and happy eating. Cailie enjoys running and hiking in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Kari Hettel, RD, CD

Kari HettelPart of the CHI Franciscan team since 2001, Kari is passionate about educating others about nutrition. Through her education in adult weight management, she helps her patients make healthy choices in a fast-paced world to reach their goals.

Holly Martindale, RD, CD

Holly MartindaleHolly oversees and teaches the Heart Healthy Nutrition series at St. Joseph Medical Center. She provides accurate nutrition education to respond to false nutrition information out in the public today. Her goals are to help people make informed choices and reap the benefits of eating healthy.

Nicole Porter, RD, CD

Nicole Porter, RD, CDNicole has been part of the CHI Franciscan team since 2012 and is dedicated to helping people make choices to achieve a healthy lifestyle through nutrition education. She enjoys spending time with her family and staying active and completed the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon in 2010. She is passionate about cooking and learning new healthy recipes for her family.
