Brain and spinal cord injury program
Through facts and personal testimony, The THINK FIRST program teaches students about preventing brain and spinal cord injury from accidents and how such injuries can impact their lives. The program includes a classroom curriculum for younger kids and assemblies for middle- and high-school age students. Call for more information or to schedule a presentation.
Juvenile fire intervention program
Fire Stoppers educators teach kids and parents about fire prevention and the dangers of fire through classroom programs and strategic communications. St. Joseph Medical Center Burn Services and the Tacoma-Pierce County Firefighters developed the program, with funding from the Franciscan Foundation.
Congregational Health Ministries
In partnership with local churches, the Congregational Health Ministries works to promote health of body, mind, and spirit among people in our communities. CHI Franciscan Health acts as a liaison between churches and health care facilities by developing and supporting health programs within the church network in the South Puget Sound region.
Lakewood Community Dental Van
Through a collaborative effort among St. Clare Hospital, Northwest Medical Teams, Clover Park Technical College and the Clover Park School District, the mobile dental van supplies routine and preventive dental care to children and adults.
CHI Franciscan Health regularly offers free immunizations throughout the Lakewood and Tacoma communities for children who have no regular health care provider or lack health insurance.
Community Health Councils
CHI Franciscan Health collaborates with agencies, businesses, and concerned persons from throughout Pierce and South King counties to address a wide range of health issues, from domestic violence to medical care for the underserved.
