Retention and Recognition

Ayobami Adelayi

"I chose to work for Franciscan because I attended a catholic high school in Nigeria and wanted a patient care environment that addressed not only the medical needs of the patient, but also their spiritual, physical and emotional needs."

Ayobami Adelayi, RN,
St. Francis Hospital, Critical Care

"I have been a Franciscan RN for over 5 years - the nurses genuinely care about their patients offering not only compassion, but knowledge and professionalism. I am grateful to work here and might not be the nurse I am today if it weren't for the staff at Franciscan."

Sarah Koecke, RN,
St. Clare Hospital, PCU

Today and looking forward

As we prepare ourselves for the future of health care here in our community, a new Franciscan strategic nursing plan guides us. This strategic plan aligns with Franciscan pillars of Best Place to Heal, Best Place to Work, Best Performance and Best Community Resource. It provides a roadmap to facilitate a renewed emphasis on professional nursing practice at Franciscan. Topics include—but are not limited to—quality nursing care, healthy work environments, recruitment, retention and patient family centered care.

We care about our nurses. We look for opportunities for our nurses to develop areas of interest and expertise; participate in learning opportunities; and, serve as resource experts. In 2009, we introduced a DAISY recognition program to recognize our many extraordinary nurses.
